Since 1981, Logitech has been crafting products that have an everyday place in people’s lives. Logitech is the world leader in PC peripherals, such as mice, keyboards, webcams, speakers and headsets.

When you work with Logitech, you’re working with a well-established, fast-growing creator of equipment for both businesses and consumers. From wireless mice and intuitive keyboards to slick video collaboration and seamless presentation control, our products are just as capable in workstations and meeting rooms as they are in the home offices and living rooms of employees.

Designing a positive future, together

Sustainability is at the core of every design decision Logitech makes, from the moment raw materials are sourced through to end-of-life considerations. Here is how Logitech is taking meaningful steps to reduce its environmental impact.

Sustainability as a business imperative

The green technology and sustainability market is expected to grow from $28.6 billion in 2024 to an estimated $134.9 billion by 2030. That growth is being driven by increasing government regulation, the rapid expansion of corporate sustainability programmes, and rising consumer expectations.

For organisations procuring IT equipment, the choices made when selecting vendors now have a direct bearing on their ability to meet Scope 3 emissions targets. Logitech recognises this and has built sustainability into the fabric of its product development process.

Why your supply chain choices matter

For many organisations, the greatest contributor to environmental impact comes not from internal operations, but from the supply chain. Greenhouse gas emissions are categorised into three scopes: Scope 1 covers direct emissions from an organisation's own facilities; Scope 2 covers emissions from purchased electricity; and Scope 3 covers all other indirect emissions, including those from vendors and suppliers.

By selecting vendors that measure and transparently report on their environmental footprint, IT leaders can make purchasing decisions that directly support their organisation's Scope 3 reduction targets. Logitech provides carbon impact labelling across its product portfolio to support exactly this kind of strategic procurement.

Logitech is the first consumer electronics company to commit to labelling every product with its carbon footprint. By 2025, every Logitech product is targeted to carry this information. In 2022, 42% of products shipped had a carbon label, up from 17% in 2021.

How to approach sustainable IT procurement

Achieving a more sustainable IT organisation requires significant effort and long-term commitment. Logitech recommends a three-step approach for organisations beginning or continuing their sustainability journey.

01

Understand your baseline

Measure the impact of your operations and your supply chain, including all the technology you purchase. Establish a baseline to track whether future purchasing decisions are reducing your carbon footprint.

02

Set purchasing guidelines

Define a set of requirements for procurement decisions. Prioritise opportunities to reduce Scope 3 emissions through vendor evaluation, with sustainability criteria embedded into the selection process.

03

Evaluate vendors rigorously

Include sustainability criteria in RFPs. Look for formal commitments, efforts spanning the full product lifecycle, third-party certifications, and a demonstrable track record of reducing environmental impact.

How Logitech integrates sustainability into product development

Logitech actively integrates Design for Sustainability (DfS) principles into both new product development and the refreshing of existing product lines. As a design-led company, Logitech recognises that the most significant opportunities to minimise environmental impact arise early in the design process.

A dedicated team of engineers with expertise in carbon impact guides product decisions. Environmental and social considerations are evaluated from the sourcing of raw materials right through to end-of-life disposal.

Today, two out of three Logitech products incorporate Next-Life Plastics, post-consumer recycled plastic sourced from electronic waste that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. Many products also use lower-carbon materials and are shipped in FSC-certified packaging.
